Chair - Gadeirydd: Sam Wilson
Sam first joined the party following a meeting with local councillors in Swansea. He quickly fell in love with campaigning on issues that matter to people at a local level and wanted to learn more. Sam took up a role on the Federal Executive as Welsh Rep during a period when the WYL Chairs could not attend, and later was a Federal Fundraising Officer. During the 2024 general election, Sam became a local party organiser for Brecon Radnor and Cwmtawe Seat, and joined part of a team which helped deliver a winning seat in Wales.
“As Chair I hope to bring WYL together and boost our profile not just in the Welsh Liberal Democrats, but Federally as well.”
Ymunodd Sam â'r blaid yn dilyn cyfarfod gyda chynghorwyr lleol yn Abertawe. Buan iawn y syrthiodd mewn cariad ag ymgyrchu ar faterion sydd o bwys i bobl leol ac roedd am ddysgu mwy. Cymerodd Sam rôl ar y Pwyllgor Gwaith Ffederal fel Cynrychiolydd Cymreig yn ystod cyfnod pan na allai Cadeiryddion WYL fod yn bresennol, ac yn ddiweddarach bu’n Swyddog Codi Arian Ffederal. Yn ystod etholiad cyffredinol 2024, Sam oedd yn drefnydd parti leol ar gyfer sedd Brycheiniog Maesyfed a Chwmtawe, ac ymunodd â rhan o dîm i sicrhau sedd fuddugol yng Nghymru.
“Fel Cadeirydd rwy’n gobeithio dod â WYL ynghyd a cryfderu ein proffil nid yn unig yn y Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol Cymreig, ond yn y Ffederal hefyd.”
Vice-Chair - Is-Gadeirydd - David-Leigh Waters
David-Leigh joined the party in 2023, after attending many events at the Warwick Liberal Democrats society, and later becoming the social secretary in 2023, and non-portfolio officer in 2024. He had previous experience with the Liberal Democrats, voting for the party in the 2022 Welsh Local Elections. David-Leigh was born in Merthyr Tydfil, and resides in Ystrad Mynach outside of term time.
David-Leigh studies Mathematics and Physics at The University of Warwick, and is to graduate with a master's degree in 2026. Interested in the quantitative side of politics, he often keeps tabs on voting intention and researches into the various methods used, commenting on their validity and if they should be taken into consideration for the sake of the party. Outside of politics, David-Leigh enjoys powerlifting as a way to keep healthy and active.
“As Vice-Chair it is my priority to get more young people like myself involved with LibDem politics, and show them you need not have studied politics formally to be a welcome member of our party.”
Ymunodd David-Leigh â’r blaid yn 2023, ar ôl mynychu llawer o ddigwyddiadau yng nghymdeithas Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol Warwick, ac yn ddiweddarach daeth yn ysgrifennydd cymdeithasol yn 2023, ac yn swyddog di-bortffolio yn 2024. Roedd ganddo brofiad blaenorol gyda’r Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol, yn bleidleisio am y blaid yn Etholiadau Lleol Cymru 2022. Ganed David-Leigh ym Merthyr Tudful, ac yn nawr y mae yn byw yn Ystrad Mynach tu allan i amser tymor.
Mae David-Leigh yn astudio Mathemateg a Ffiseg ym Mhrifysgol Warwick, a bydd yn graddio gyda gradd meistr yn 2026. Gyda diddordeb yn ochr feintiol gwleidyddiaeth, mae'n aml yn cadw llygad ar fwriadau pleidleisio ac yn ymchwilio i'r gwahanol ddulliau a ddefnyddir, gan roi sylwadau ar eu dilysrwydd ac a ddylid eu cymryd i ystyriaeth er mwyn y parti. Y tu allan i wleidyddiaeth, mae David-Leigh yn mwynhau “powerlifting” fel ffordd o gadw'n iach ac egnïol.
“Fel Is-Gadeirydd fy mlaenoriaeth yw cael mwy o bobl ifanc fel fi i ryngweithio gyda’r Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol, a dangos iddynt nad oes angen i chi fod wedi astudio gwleidyddiaeth yn ffurfiol i fod yn aelod o’n plaid.”

Welsh Language Officer - Swyddog y Gymraeg: Rhys Llewelyn Williams
I joined the Welsh Young Liberals in the Winter of 2020 as I desired a party that stood for the values of liberalism, internationalism and environmentalism. Born and raised near Bala in North Wales, I was raised in a unilingual Welsh community, learning English as a second language in primary school. As a consequence, I have a real passion for Welsh language and Welsh culture-related policy. Currently, I am in my second year of medicine at the University of Leeds, hoping to graduate by 2026 and, eventually, move back home to serve the needs of those in North Wales.

Ymunais i â Rhydfrydwyr Ifanc Cymru yn ystod Gaeaf 2020 o ganlyniad i ‘mryd i ymuno â phlaid oedd yn dymuno gweld Cymru fwy rhyddfrydol, rhyngwladol ac amgylcheddol. Cefais fagwraeth ger y Bala yng Ngogledd Cymru mewn cymdeithas uniaith Gymraeg, gan ddysgu Saesneg fel ail iaith yn yr ysgol gynradd. O ganlyniad, mae gen i wir ddiddordeb mewn polisïau sy’n berthnasol i’r Gymraeg a diwylliant Cymru. Ar y funud, dwi yn fy ail flwyddyn fel myfyriwr meddygaeth ym Mhrifysgol Leeds, yn dymuno i raddio erbyn 2026 ac, ymhen amser, symud yn ôl adre i wasanethu trigolion Gogledd Cymru.
