Honorary Officers
All Honorary Officers shall have the following duties/rights:
- Be entitled to receive notice of, attend and speak at Executive meetings unless the Executive resolves otherwise in a particular case;
- Be awarded a two-year term of office;
- To offer support and advice to the Executive and, if requested, Committees;
- To foster positive relationships between the organisation and other areas of the party;
- To offer support to individual officers with the fulfilment of their portfolios, if requested; and
- Form the panel to decide the recipient of the annual Emily Price Award.
Those wishing to stand for election as an Honorary Officer must self-nominate during the election period.
Honorary President
The Young Liberals Honorary President is the organisation's opportunity to honour an outstanding YL ally!
In addition to the responsibilities and privileges afforded to all Honorary Officers, the Honorary President shall:
- When asked, have the discretion to agree to a declaration of exceptional circumstances to alter arrangements for Exec meetings and conference;
- Be consulted on the alteration of the constitution if it is found or suspected to be in breach of UK law;
- In the first instance, hear disputes over the interpretation of the constitution, or defer to an Appeals Panel;
- Nominate members to form an Appeals Panel; and
- Convene the panel to determine the recipient of the annual Emily Price award, and communicate the decision of the panel to the Events Officer.
Honorary Vice-Presidents
Honorary Vice-Presidents are an opportunity to honour those have contributed to YL or been good allies to the organisation. There are six Honorary Vice-Presidents, who shall be elected three at a time, with elections staggered one year apart.
In addition to the responsibilities and privileges afforded to all Honorary Officers, the Honorary Vice-Presidents may:
- Assist the Honorary President with regards to constitutional interpretation should the Honorary President request this;
