Trans Day of Visibility 2023

Throughout history from the dawn of humanity, through all of the centuries and millennia, through all of the toil and hardship, there has existed a part of humanity hidden, forgotten and thrown aside. This is the transgendered community, a part of the community that makes up about 2% of the population, has always existed, but on top of the hardships that cis-normative-society has had to endure, the trans community have never been able to live as themselves, express their true identities, and never been even able to be called by their real names.

But now, in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, this community for the first time in human history is recognised, is able to live free, as themselves, fight for the rights that they and everybody deserve. They are able to access help, support and treatment for the crippling dysphoria that they and generations before them have had to endure. And above all the trans community for the first time in history has the freedom to be happy.

This achievement is truly amazing, an opening of a new chapter in human understanding and human freedom. It is truly an achievement that the whole human race should celebrate and shout about. That is why Trans Day of visibility is so important: it is a day dedicated to Freedom, to Justice, and to Humanity, not just for the trans community, but for everybody.

Sadly though as we get ready to celebrate this beautiful day, there are those out there, the conservative thinkers, the far right activists, who want to hurt this community want to censor this community, prevent this community from even existing. They want to hurt humanity by throwing us back into our old ways of bigotry and hatred. They may have loud voices it seems, they may have a lot of money and influence, but they are few, and their numbers dwindle.

So I urge all that are reading this, to celebrate this wonderful day, to send love to the trans community and to freedom and to humanity. But also, if you are able, to stand up and shout out against the bigotry, the hated, and the injustices, of the conservative far right agenda. Do this not only for the trans community but also in the name of humanity and freedom.
